Jackie Beckford

Jackie has lived in East Grinstead for more than 8 years having previously relocated from Canada and is originally from London.   A postgraduate of South Bank University, London and a qualified sports practitioner.  She has played and coached netball at a very high standard and is a  very keen sportswoman.

She has many years experience as a volunteer at Queen Victoria Hospital, the Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group, East Grinstead District Credit Union and various other establishments.  Previously, Jackie worked for the Civil Service and then moved into the legal profession for 17 years, covering all aspects of law.

Jackie is renowned for being very active in her local community and has a passion for seeing lives transformed.  She is inspirational and always has a positive outlook on life.  She has led many motivational seminars and is a trained personal coach.  

Jackie has sound knowledge and expertise within the voluntary sector having worked for West Sussex Council for Voluntary Youth Service, during which time she successful ly organised three youth events.  In addition, she had a hugely successful young peoples  event at the local theatre (Chequer Mead).  

Jackie strongly believes that we all have a responsibility to create an environment conducive to integration, respect and friendship within our communities.

Stephen Barnett

District councillor for Ashurst Wood

Stephen has been a Councillor since 1999 for both Ashurst Wood and East Grinstead . At the District Council he has been prominent in exposing the failures within previous strategic housing plans imposed on the town. Stephen was elected to the Town Council in 2003. He has also been a strong supporter of regeneration of our town centre alongside support for our vital voluntary organisations, such as Age Concern and the Citizens Advice Bureau. Stephen is married with two children who attended Sackville School and Ashurst Wood Primary school where he was formerly a Governor.

Catrin Ingham

Catrin Ingham has enjoyed living  in the local area for the past 19 years . She is married with two children, both in secondary education. She is a postgraduate of  the University of Sussex, where she obtained a B.A Hons in International Relations and a M.A in Rural Development. 

Catrin has a keen interest in social and cultural issues. Whilst working for an international airline, Catrin also spent her days off employed as a visiting teacher for the Development charity ActionAid. This involved visiting regional schools and colleges to raise awareness of issues such as poverty, healthcare and aspects of community living both here in the UK and in developing countries. After a number of years, Catrin moved to work for Surrey Social Services as part of their Children’s Asylum Support Team, responsible for the welfare and protection of minors throughout the County. Catrin is currently a member of Gatwick Detainees Welfare Group and is on the board of Trustees for AVID, an organisation representing visitor groups for detainees.

Catrin has a real interest in making East Grinstead a thriving town in which to live for people of all ages. She is keen to protect essential local services and to giving residents more of a voice in how the town is run.

Bob Mainstone

Town & District Councillor for Imberhorne Ward

Bob represents Imberhorne Ward on the Town and District Councils. His  long service to East Grinstead includes teaching at Sackville School and later as Head of Imberhorne Lower School. He wants to keep helping East Grinstead to develop its full potential. He works tirelessly to support many local organisations including the Town Museum , the Neighbourhood Panel and Chequer Mead.  He wants to continue the Town Council’s policy of protecting the town’s western boundary from housing development.  Bob believes the town’s car parks need a period of free parking to bring shoppers back into the town centre.
